Axiom, born Carlos Ruiz Velasco on May 9, 1997, in Madrid, Spain, is a professional wrestler currently signed to WWE and performing on the NXT brand. Before adopting the masked persona of Axiom in WWE in July 2022, he was widely known as A-Kid—a trailblazing figure in European wrestling. As A-Kid, he made history by becoming the first Spanish-born wrestler to sign with WWE and quickly established himself as one of NXT UK’s most technically gifted competitors. Ruiz began his wrestling career at a young age on the independent circuit across Europe. He gained international attention after an acclaimed match against Zack Sabre Jr., which showcased his technical prowess and high-flying style. In April 2019, he signed with WWE and debuted for NXT UK later that year. A-Kid’s breakthrough came when he won the inaugural NXT UK Heritage Cup tournament in November 2020 by defeating Trent Seven in the finals—making him the first-ever Heritage Cup Champion. His reign was marked by intense matches that highlighted his agility and mat-based skills. In mid-2022, Ruiz rebranded as "Axiom," donning a superhero-inspired mask and continuing to impress audiences with his athleticism and innovative offense on NXT. He has since competed against top talents such as Nathan Frazer and Carmelo Hayes while participating in high-profile tournaments like the Iron Survivor Challenge.
