About Fabiano Caruana's Height
Fabiano Caruana is one of the world’s elite chess grandmasters, renowned for his deep strategic understanding and formidable competitive record. Born in Miami, Florida to Italian-American parents, Caruana began playing chess at age five after his family moved to Brooklyn, New York. His prodigious talent was evident early on; by age ten he became the youngest American to defeat a Grandmaster in an official tournament game. Caruana’s dual citizenship allowed him to represent both Italy and the United States during different phases of his career. He earned the title of Grandmaster at just 14 years old—making him the youngest ever in both U.S. and Italian history at that time. From 2005 until 2015, he played under the Italian flag before returning to represent the United States. His breakthrough came in August-September 2014 when he scored an astonishing seven consecutive wins at the Sinquefield Cup against some of the world’s top players—a feat widely regarded as one of modern chess's greatest tournament performances. In March 2018, Caruana won the Candidates Tournament in Berlin, earning a match against reigning World Champion Magnus Carlsen later that year—the first American since Bobby Fischer (1972) to challenge for this title. The match ended tied after classical games; Carlsen retained his crown by winning rapid tiebreaks. Caruana has consistently ranked among FIDE's top three players globally and has represented Team USA with distinction—helping secure gold medals at Chess Olympiads and other major team events.
Fabiano Caruana stands at 5'6.9" (170 cm), which is about average for a male. This is 5.0 cm shorter than the average height for men(5'8.9" (175 cm)).
