About Sergey Bubka's Height

Sergey Bubka, born on December 4, 1963 in Luhansk, Ukraine (then part of the Soviet Union), is widely recognized as one of the greatest pole vaulters in history. Bubka began athletics as a child and demonstrated exceptional prowess in pole vaulting, debuting on the global stage with a gold medal at the 1983 World Championships when he was only nineteen. Throughout his career, he set the pole vault world record 35 times—an unmatched feat—pushing the standards of his sport by breaking his own record in small increments. Bubka was the first man to clear six meters outdoors, redefining elite pole vaulting. Representing both the Soviet Union and, after 1991, Ukraine, he won six consecutive World Championships (1983–1997) and clinched Olympic gold at Seoul in 1988. Injuries limited his performance at subsequent Games. After retiring in 2001, Bubka served as President of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee and later as a Vice President of World Athletics (formerly IAAF). His influence continues in global athletics administration, and his world record vault of 6.14 m outdoors stood unchallenged for over 26 years.
