Born in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, on September 18, 2004, Abdusattorov began playing chess at an early age and quickly demonstrated exceptional aptitude for the game. By age nine, he had already achieved significant success in youth tournaments and was awarded the title of International Master at just 13 years old. In April 2018, at only 13 years and one month old, Nodirbek became a grandmaster—making him one of the youngest ever to achieve this prestigious title. His meteoric rise continued as he represented Uzbekistan in numerous international competitions. The pinnacle of his career so far came in December 2021 when he won the FIDE World Rapid Chess Championship at just seventeen years old. In doing so, he defeated several elite players including Magnus Carlsen (the reigning World Champion), Ian Nepomniachtchi, and Fabiano Caruana. Abdusattorov has also played a pivotal role for Team Uzbekistan; most notably leading them to gold at the Chess Olympiad in Chennai (2022). He is known for his aggressive style and deep calculation abilities that belie his young age. As of mid-2025, Nodirbek continues to be ranked among the top players globally with a FIDE rating consistently above 2700.
