Of Turkish descent, she started playing chess at the age of four after watching her family members play, quickly winning several national youth championships by age seven. Salimova won gold at the European Youth Chess Championship for girls under-8 in 2011 and continued to dominate youth competitions internationally, highlighted by her victory at the World Youth Chess Championship for girls under-14 in 2017. She earned both the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) and International Master (IM) titles from FIDE for her exceptional performance. In August 2023, she reached the final of the FIDE Women’s World Cup, confirming her status among the world’s elite in women's chess. Celebrated for her aggressive yet deeply strategic style, Salimova regularly competes successfully in adult events, inspiring young chess talents across Eastern Europe and beyond.
