About Pia Cramling's Height

Pia Cramling is one of the most accomplished and respected chess players in the world, renowned for her longevity and consistency at the highest levels of international competition. Born in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 23, 1963, she began playing chess at a young age and rose rapidly through the Swedish and European chess ranks. By her teens, she was already competing internationally. Cramling became an International Master in 1983 and achieved the Grandmaster title in 1992, making her only the third woman to do so outright after Nona Gaprindashvili and Maia Chiburdanidze. Over her more than four-decade career, she has been a fixture among the world's top female players, representing Sweden in numerous Chess Olympiads since 1978 and winning multiple individual medals. Tournament successes include winning or sharing first place at major events such as the European Women’s Individual Championship (2003). Besides individual achievements, she contributed to several European club teams and secured national titles. Cramling is also known for competing regularly against male grandmasters, a rarity among women in her early career, and for her deep positional understanding and resilience. Off the board, she is married to Spanish grandmaster Juan Manuel Bellón López, and their daughter Anna Cramling is a rising chess player and popular streamer.
